Ration shops across Kerala will reopen September 3, 2026, following a two-day closure on September 1 and 2. The shutdown was implemented to update Electronic Point of Sale (e-PoS) servers and complete administrative formalities. With the August 2026 quota distribution concluded on August 31, cardholders can now collect their September entitlements from their designated Fair Price Shops starting today. The Civil Supplies Department has also introduced QR-coded rice sacks from mills to curb black marketing and hoarding, ensuring transparency in the distribution system.
AAY (Yellow) cards will receive 30 kg rice and 2 kg wheat free, along with 3 atta packets at ₹7 each. PHH (Pink) cards are entitled to 4 kg rice and 1 kg wheat per member free, with atta packets at ₹9 each if wheat is unavailable. PHH cardholders can also purchase up to 3 kg additional rice at ₹26 per kg, subject to stock. Blue cards (NPS) will get 2 kg rice per member at ₹4 per kg, along with 2 kg wheat at ₹8.70 per kg. Additional quota includes up to 10 kg rice at ₹26 per kg and up to 4 kg atta at ₹17 per kg. White cards (NPNS) will receive 2 kg rice at ₹10.90 per kg, with additional rice up to 10 kg at ₹26 per kg and up to 4 kg atta at ₹17 per kg. NPI cardholders will get 2 kg rice at ₹10.90 per kg, with additional rice up to 10 kg at ₹26 per kg and up to 1 kg atta at ₹17 per kg.
For the July-September 2026 quarter, kerosene allocation depends on electricity availability. AAY cardholders with electricity will get 1 liter; PHH, NPS, and NPNS cardholders with electricity will receive 0.5 liters each. Households without electricity—across all card categories—will receive 6 liters of kerosene to compensate for their dependence on it for lighting and domestic needs. Beneficiaries are reminded that kerosene is a quarterly quota and must be collected within the prescribed period to avoid lapse.
The Civil Supplies Department urges all beneficiaries to collect their entitlements promptly and carry their ration cards when visiting shops. For any queries regarding allocations or distribution schedules, cardholders can contact their local rationing office or the department’s helpline. With the introduction of QR-coded sacks and updated e-PoS systems, the government aims to streamline the distribution process and ensure that benefits reach the intended recipients efficiently. Cardholders are encouraged to cooperate with the new measures to help maintain transparency and accountability in the public distribution system.
