Kerala Blasters Set to Complete Signings of European Midfielder and African Forward
Kerala Blasters are set to complete the signing of Montenegrin international Nebojsa Kosovic ahead of the Indian Super League 2026-27 season, with both parties having agreed on all terms of the deal. The 31-year-old central midfielder arrives as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Thai League 1 side Bangkok United in July 2026. The signing will be completed before the player travels to India for pre-season, making him the second foreigner finalised by head coach Ashley Westwood after former Aston Villa winger Andre Green, who also joined on a free transfer.
Born in Niksic in February 1995, Kosovic came through the academy at Vojvodina in Serbia before making his senior debut as a 16-year-old. He joined Partizan on a free transfer in August 2015 and stayed three and a half years, making 81 appearances and winning the Serbian Cup in each of his four seasons, along with the league title in 2016-17 for a domestic double. Including the cup he won with Vojvodina, Kosovic is a five-time Serbian Cup winner. He has spent the last seven and a half years working across Asia, including successful spells with Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan, where he won the league title and domestic cup, and Chinese Super League side Meizhou Hakka, where he made 73 appearances and scored 12 goals across three seasons. He most recently played for Bangkok United in Thailand, featuring in the AFC Champions League Two and the ASEAN Club Championship. Kosovic has 34 caps and one goal for Montenegro, with his last international appearance coming in June 2024 against Belgium.
In addition to Kosovic, Kerala Blasters are also set to complete the signing of Guinea international Momo Yansane. The 29-year-old centre-forward scored eight goals in 26 appearances across the Armenian Premier League, Cyprus First Division, and domestic cups during the 2025-26 season. Yansane adds another proven attacking option to the Blasters squad as they continue their aggressive recruitment drive under the new Al Fursan consortium ownership. The paperwork for both signings is expected to be signed anytime soon, with agreements already in place with the players.
The Blasters also explored other midfield options before deciding to sign the Montenegro international, demonstrating the thorough approach being taken by the new management. With Kosovic and Yansane joining Andre Green as the club’s foreign signings, Kerala Blasters are building a squad with a blend of international experience and proven goal-scoring ability. As the pre-season preparations continue under Westwood, the addition of these two players strengthens the Blasters’ options in midfield and attack, positioning them well for the challenges of the upcoming ISL season.
